The Race Is On!

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. (Eccl. 9:11)

Whenever I scope out the scene here where I live, I observe a large number of people who are pursuing the so-called successful life. They would say the way to make it in the world--- the way to succeed---is to increase speed, get stronger, be competitive, think more cleverly, plan longer, and have a visionary strategy---hire people with the skills that are needed and life will be successful. The race is on. Get up earlier. Go to bed later. Make work a top priority. Don't get sentimental about stuff like children, marriage, home, and the family. All that will have to wait. . . . And religion? Leave that for the over-the-hill gang and preachers. . . .

The philosophy of our day will attempt to suck us in and convince us that if we we're going to make it, we've got to run faster. . . . We've got to be stronger and more competitive and more clever, even more manipulative. Otherwise, we won't be successful. . . . Don't you believe it!

Living on the Ragged Edge

The Christian walk is definitely a race. Just like your traditional running events, the kind of race ran by us as Christians will vary from one person to another. In some instances, a Christian may have to sprint through a certain aspect of their life. There may be other instances when the Christian will have to run a more long-distance, marathon-like race. Regardless of the kind of race you find yourself in at this stage in your life, the race is on and will stay on until the day it is time for us to meet Jesus in the clouds.

Meeting Jesus in the clouds is our goal as Christians. Just like in traditional running races, there is also a reward waiting for us at the end of the race. What kind of reward awaits us depends on how we run the race. Ask God to help you run this race with strength and vigor. My dear friends, victory is within your grasp. All you have to do is to run this race with your eyes, heart, and spirit fixed on the prize. The ultimate prize is the incorruptible crown of glory waiting for all of God's children. So what are you waiting for?

The race is on!

Thank you so much for reading this far my friends! May God continue to bless you and keep you in Jesus' mighty name! JESUS LOVES YOU AND SO DO I!!!!. . . . :-).
