God's Gracious Liberty!

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed. (Rom. 6:6)

I remember one hot and humid Houston afternoon back in grade school when our teacher gave everyone permission to go barefoot after lunch. We got to pull off our socks, stick'em in our sneakers, and wiggle our toes all we wanted to. During the afternoon recess that extra freedom added great speed to our softball game on the playground. . . .

Isn't it strange then, now that you and I are grown and have become Christians, how reluctant we are to give ourselves permission to do . . . to think . . . to say . . . to buy and enjoy . . . or to be different and not worry about who may say what?

Even though our God has graciously granted us permission to be free, to have liberty . . . and to enjoy so much of this life, many in His family seldom give themselves permission.

The Finishing Touch

There are so many benefits that we can enjoy because of the liberties that have been given to us by God through our Founding Fathers. The picture of the Bible on top of the US flag is perfect in that it reflects the fact that our country has been established on Biblical principals. As a US citizen, I'm very happy for the freedoms that have been provided to us. More importantly, I will be forever grateful to our military men and women who constantly serve on behalf of our country in an effort to maintain those freedoms. With that said, our freedoms are never free and come at a price.

As Christians, we have also been provided certain freedoms as well. The irony of our freedoms in our case is that they have also come at a price. The price that was paid on our behalf costed Jesus His life. Jesus' crucifixion provided us a different kind of freedom in the form of God's gracious liberty. God's gracious liberty has broken the chains of sin over our lives when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. God's gracious liberty has empowered us to carry the gospel to the four corners of the world.

My dear friends, God's gracious liberty allows us to freely share the love of Jesus Christ to everyone we meet. God's gracious liberty also enables us to anticipate the second coming of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Unlike our own liberties as world citizens, God's gracious liberty could never be influenced by those things and people that have been corrupted or compromised in an ungodly manner. For those of you who have yet to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, I encourage you to seek Him and incorporate Him into your life so that you can then experience God's gracious liberty in our present lives and in the life to come when we stand before God and eternity.

Thank you so much for reading this far friends! May God continue to bless you and keep you in Jesus' precious name! JESUS LOVES YOU AND SO DO I!!!!. . . . :-).
