Man Of Sorrows!

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Is. 53:5)

So many of us by now have either seen or at the very least heard of the movie titled The Passion of the Christ. In a nutshell, the movie depicts the last 12 hours of Jesus' life prior to His crucifixion and eventual resurrection. For the sake of this post, I want to focus on His suffering and the role that it has played in His life and the significance of such in our lives today.

Jesus Christ, also known as the Man of Sorrows, had a truly amazing ministry that was full of ups and downs. In the same way that Jesus was able to perform miracles, He also experienced suffering at the hands of His own people. It is that suffering that He endured at the hands of His own people in why He has been named Man of Sorrows.

Sorrow has played a key role in the life of Jesus. The sufferings of Jesus Christ was proudly put on display on a number of different occasions. Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot. Jesus often experienced indifference, ridicule, and slander at the hands of the "religious folk", such as the Pharisees. Jesus suffered privately in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus also suffered in silence when Pontus Pilate handed down the sentence after the Jewish people called for His crucifixion.

As we can see in the few examples that I have given on the sufferings of Jesus Christ, there's a question that begs to be answered. Here it goes!

Are the sufferings of Jesus Christ relevant to us today?

If you say yes, then welcome to the party...:-). If you say no, then I highly suggest that you make a closer observation of your relationship with God in light of the sorrows of Jesus Christ. Don't misunderstand me friends. God knows very well and those of us who have already been walking the Christian walk for some time already will know that suffering may not always happen to us directly, but suffering does happen around us on moment by moment basis.

There is so much more that can be discussed about sorrow and the role it plays in our lives on a daily basis. Just keep in mind that the purpose of sorrow (suffering) has in our lives is to humble us and polish our character for personal and spiritual growth. As a result, our professional growth will be impacted especially for those in mercy jobs such as medical professionals, Christian layworkers, police officers, firefighters, and even counselors. This list is by no means exhaustive, but you get the point..:-).

Thanks again for reading this far friends! May God continue to bless you and keep you always! JESUS LOVES YOU AND SO DO I!!!...:-).  Without further delay, here's the lyrics of Man Of Sorrows by Hillsong Live....ENJOY!!!...:-D

Man of sorrows Lamb of God
By His own betrayed
The sin of man and wrath of God
Has been on Jesus laid

Silent as He stood accused
Beaten mocked and scorned
Bowing to the Father's will
He took a crown of thorns

Oh that rugged cross
My salvation
Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out
Praise and honour unto Thee

Sent of heaven God's own Son
To purchase and redeem
And reconcile the very ones
Who nailed Him to that tree

Now my debt is paid
It is paid in full
By the precious blood
That my Jesus spilled

Now the curse of sin
Has no hold on me
Whom the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed

See the stone is rolled away
Behold the empty tomb
Hallelujah God be praised
He's risen from the grave
